I am a contemporary landscape artist, currently based in the picturesque region of Cornwall, where I find my inspiration in the breathtaking scenery that surrounds me. As an artist, I specialise in creating unique and contemporary works of art that capture the beauty and vibrancy of nature. My paintings are not only a celebration of the natural world, but also a reflection of my passion for color and composition. the artist
I’ve had a passion for art since I could first hold a paintbrush as a child. At 17 I was due to study a Degree in Fine Art at Southampton, but at the last moment on a bit of a whim I joined the forces instead. My love of art never left me and following quite a lot of time painting superheros for the children, I resumed creating contemporary artworks four years ago.
I am based in Cornwall where I take inspiration from the beautiful coastal path and little harbour villages, but I also enjoy painting other parts of the U.K like the Forth Bridge and harbours such as Whitby. I use acrylic and oil paints in vibrant joyful colours. My work has sold regularly within Contemporary Art Events at Auction Rooms and in Art Galleries in the South West and Wales.
I am a member of the Association of British Naive Artists and was part of an exhibition with them at The Crypt Gallery in St Ives in June 2023. My painting ‘Night Swimming’ was chosen by the editor and featured in the October 2023 issue of The Artist Magazine.
My work is recognisable – a fellow artist told me they could be anywhere in the world and know a painting was one of mine, which was lovely to hear. A customer told me that seeing my painting in her home brings joy to her day, that’s the best feedback an artist can have.
the art
A lot of my art is abstract – I love the vibrancy and uniqueness that comes from this and some of my favourite pieces were created without a plan in mind. I am creating home ware to go alongside my paintings to give an encompassing , individual finished look.
My original paintings are made using acrylic paints and inks. The ink is brilliant at giving colours that really stand out and is loose and free to work with. I use it a lot in my abstract ‘splashing’ art. It is also great for detail particularly when painting village houses and adds a great way of catching the light.
I use quality canvas from my local art supplier and all of my paintings are sprayed with Liquitex Satin Varnish for protection without marks. I include a certificate of authenticity with all my work giving the title name and details.
